Lynn has been living in Malta for a
number of years now but only took up pottery as a hobby in
2004. Although she excelled at her Art & Design classes
whilst at school in Scotland, her current career and
lifestyle did not leave her any time to pursue the creative
side of her personality.
She says, “Whilst on holiday in
Australia, exploring the numerous vineyards and craft
villages, I came across several different pottery studios. I
loved the different styles of work and I was really taken
with how simple in design some of the items were. You always
think of pottery being created on the wheel after years of
practice and tuition but I now know this is not the case. I
was amazed watching young people create unique and varied
hand built pieces. I made the decision, that on my return to
Malta, I would give it try myself!”
Lynn has
since then worked with Stoneware and earthenware clay
creating several slab vases and boxes. Most of her pieces
are very geometrical and symmetrical in shape and her choice
of glaze colours tend to be from the Autumn shades. One of
her most prominent pieces to date is a sixteen piece slab
vase built in Stoneware that stands over one foot high.
