Zell Osborne trained in Biochemistry, obtaining a degree from University College Cardiff in 1974. She worked as a research assistant for a year, before her love of art finally took over and she returned to Cardiff College of art where she obtained a first class degree in Ceramics in 1979

For a number of years she ran a pottery studio in her native county of Cornwall, U.K. She then decided to spend some time teaching and returned to college in 1985 to take a P.G.A.T. course. She spent some time as artist in residence at Handrindod Wells High School and the Psychiatric Day Hospital at Manchester Royal Infirmary

Her first exhibition in Malta was in 1986 followed by one in 1988. Since then she has permanently settled in Malta and has taken part in many collective exhibitions. She has produced ceramic murals for various hotels and restaurants as well as trophies for organizations.

From 1989 - 2005 Zell ran the Art and Pottery Studio for children with special needs at Ir-Razzett tal- Hbiberija.

In Dec 2005 she was placed 1st in the Malta Society of Arts and Commerce Annual Competition.

She has recently started clay modelling classes at St James Cavalier and also provides classes at her studio in Sliema.

Her most recent solo exhibition was at St James Cavalier in Dec/Jan 2003/4, which displayed the range of work produced in Malta from 1988.

They showed the range of her inspirations, varying from marine and microscopic life, natural formation in sand and rock, influence of African Art, arms and armoury together with futuristic and mythological imagery - sometimes all combined!
